Abusive Security Forces in Kenya

In Kenya, the abuse of power is quite common. From the government to police, bribery, abuse and falsely imprisonment is seen in a range of situations, not based on gender, religion, or any other societal divisions. There are also a few severe cases where protesters have been killed without a worry about consequences, and the misusage of control is starting to get out of hand. One of the contemporary issues, in March, involved protestants being beaten up and killed by Kenyan police force as they used tear gas to blind the crowds and tore them apart after using physical violence. Deadly floods In Italy

On November 3rd , extreme heavy rainfall lasting for 4 hours led to around 200mm of precipitation on the streets of Tuscany Italy leaving 6 people dead and several missing. The governor of Tuscany, Eugenio Giani, thinks that the cause of such rainfall is due to climate change as the region has never experienced anything like this before. Teams from the National Civil Protection were sent to assist the flood victims of the area using boats and helicopters, and were able to rescue 30 families from Calcinaia and 6 families from San Minato.

This infuriated the people of Kaisa Bagan causing them to storm the mall on April 16, 2023 in what was known as the "Quest Mall Protest". People in the slums had been dying of heat strokes while the mall right beside them had been fully functioning! Fortunately, a few hours after the…

The Journey of a 73 Year Old Activist Still Seeking Equal Rights In India

Maya Sharma is among the 21 petitioners, including same-sex couples, trans people and organisations, who are seeking marriage equality. Her plea, filed along with nine others, also wants the right for LGBTQ+ people to choose their families, even outside of marriage. Ms Sharma doesn't want marriage for herself - in fact, she "despises the concept" and walked out of a heterosexual marriage three decades ago. "The term marriage comes with a lot of associations", she says, preferring to call her relationship a "partnership".

Ms Sharma made a poster, which said "Indian and Lesbian", and stood in front of the iconic Regal Cinema in Delhi along with others. She was initially scared that people would recognise her, but was later emboldened by the impact the protests had on the country.

"For the first time, the word lesbian…
